Looking for some serious action on one of Oklahoma and Texas's premier fishing destinations? Troy's Guide Service has been putting anglers on monster striped bass and hefty catfish for years, and this morning trip is exactly what you need to get your adrenaline pumping. Lake Texoma's massive 89,000 acres hold some of the best striper fishing in the country, and Troy knows every productive point, creek mouth, and deep water structure where these fish hang out. Whether you're a complete beginner or you've been chasing stripers for decades, this 4-5 hour morning adventure will have you hooked from the first cast to the last fish in the boat.
Your day starts early when the stripers are most active and the lake is calm. Troy meets you at the dock with everything ready to go - top-quality rods, reels, and all the bait you'll need for a successful trip. The boat can handle up to three anglers comfortably, so you'll have plenty of room to fight fish without getting tangled up. Depending on what the fish are doing, you might find yourself casting to surface schools, working deep structure, or following the birds to where the action is hottest. Troy's been fishing these waters long enough to know that conditions change daily, and he's always got a backup plan when the fish get finicky. Some mornings the bite is so hot that limits come in 30 minutes, while other days require more patience and persistence. Either way, Troy guarantees at least two hours of actual fishing time, though most trips run the full 4-5 hours because nobody wants to leave when the fish are biting.
All your tackle is provided, from heavy-duty rods that can handle 20-pound stripers to the specific baits and lures that work best on Texoma. Troy switches techniques based on what the fish want - some days they're crushing live shad on the surface, other times you'll be bouncing jigs along the bottom or trolling through the thermocline. The lake's unique structure, with its flooded timber and creek channels, requires local knowledge to fish effectively. Troy knows where the fish school up during different seasons and weather conditions, plus he's got the electronics to locate baitfish and mark productive areas. You don't need any experience with these techniques - Troy handles the boat positioning and teaches you exactly how to work each presentation. Just remember to bring your valid Lake Texoma fishing license, because you're definitely going to need it when the cooler starts filling up with fillets.
"My family of 5 hired Troy for a guided fishing trip this morning. We had a fantastic time. While it seemed like the fishing was going to be slow, we ended up going home with a cooler full of filets. My kids (14, 9, & 7 ) really enjoyed their first fishing trip and Troy was very accommodating! We highly recommend and will definitely be back!" - Erika. "Troy didn't just put us on some striper—he put us on rod-breaking, adrenaline-pumping monsters! The man catered to the ladies like a pro, keeping them happy with fresh bait and good vibes the entire trip. They felt so welcomed, they're already packing for round two! Definitely worth the extra miles for a day of epic fishing and endless laughs." - Daniel. "Troy is the best! This was my second time going out with him and he knows how to put you on fish. I took my Son and his girlfriend on the trip and we all had a blast and did I mention Troy knows how to put you on fish!! He is knowledgeable. personable and just a goo Dude to hang out with on the water. I highly recommend Troy" - Rick.
Striped bass are the main attraction on Lake Texoma, and for good reason - these silver rockets can grow massive in these fertile waters. Most stripers you'll catch run between 3 and 8 pounds, but don't be surprised when a 15 or 20-pounder nearly spools your reel. Spring and fall are prime time for stripers, when they're actively feeding and easier to locate, but Troy finds them year-round by adjusting depth and presentation. What makes stripers so exciting is their explosive strikes and powerful runs - they'll test your drag and make your arms burn. These fish are also excellent eating, with firm white meat that's perfect for grilling or frying.
Blue catfish are Lake Texoma's other claim to fame, with some true giants lurking in the deeper channels. These bruisers can exceed 50 pounds and provide a completely different fight than stripers - more bulldogging power than speed. Blues are most active during warmer months and bite best on cut bait or live shad. Unlike their smaller channel cat cousins, blue catfish have a cleaner taste and firmer texture that makes them a favorite for the dinner table. Troy knows the difference between blues and channels, and he's happy to explain the identifying features while keeping the best eating fish for your cooler.
White bass round out the target species list and provide non-stop action when you find a school. These smaller cousins of the stripers often travel in huge groups and compete aggressively for bait. While they're not as big as stripers, white bass make up for it with sheer numbers - it's not uncommon to catch 20 or 30 in a good morning. They're also delicious when prepared properly, with a mild flavor that's perfect for fish cakes or pan-frying. White bass are most active in spring during their spawning run, but Troy finds them throughout the season by targeting the same areas where stripers feed.
Lake Texoma's reputation as one of America's top striper destinations isn't going anywhere, and neither is Troy's track recor

Loved Troy. Great guy. Very knowledgeable on, not only stripers, but most fish. After the flood in April fishing was tough be he worked hard to get us on some. We even caught several catfish and he kept and cleaned them as well. Explained the diff between blues and channel. Looking forward to fishing with him again.

Blue cats are the monsters of Lake Texoma, averaging 25-46 inches and weighing up to 80+ pounds. These slate-blue giants love deep holes and muddy bottoms, especially around creek channels and drop-offs. They're opportunistic feeders that'll eat anything - crawfish, mussels, even other fish. You'll often find them scavenging under feeding stripers. Spring through fall gives you the best action when water temps are right. What makes them special? They fight hard and taste great. Fresh cut bait works best - let it sink to the bottom and stay patient. Here's a local trick: when you feel that first nibble, wait for a second tap before setting the hook. These fish like to mouth the bait first, and patience pays off with these slippery fighters.

Stripers are the main attraction here on Texoma, running 15-40 pounds with some real giants mixed in. These silver fish with black horizontal stripes are structure-oriented, hanging around points, humps, and creek channels in 20-40 feet of water. Spring and fall offer the hottest action when they're most active. What makes them special is their powerful fight - they'll make long runs and test your drag. Plus, they're outstanding table fare with firm, sweet meat. These fish follow baitfish schools, so we're constantly moving to stay on them. Best conditions are early morning with some chop on the water. Local secret: when the water temp hits 65-70 degrees, focus on the main lake points where stripers ambush shad. Fresh bait and patience always win.

White bass run in schools and put up a scrappy fight for their 1-3 pound size. These silver fish with dark horizontal stripes love open water and points where they chase baitfish to the surface. Spring spawning runs bring the best action, but they bite year-round in 15-25 feet of water. They're visual feeders, so small jigs and spoons work great. What guests love most is the fast action - when you find a school, you can fill the cooler quick. They're also some of the best eating fish in the lake with sweet, flaky meat. Pro tip: watch for diving birds or bait activity on the surface. When white bass are feeding, they'll push shad up and create a feeding frenzy that's hard to miss.
